Project Description:
Following this $295 million facility renovation and expansion, the Getty Villa re-opened in 2006, and now houses all antiquities of the collection. New program includes a cafe, amphitheater, underground auditorium, two lab buildings, and two parking structures. The archaeological labs are the most advanced in the world, and required careful coordination with numerous consultants. The project is a tectonic tour-de-force due to careful detailing of the hundreds of finish materials.
